I’ve always known that the teams at SUPCASE and MUMBA are deeply invested in the products we build.

During our Ask Me Anything (AMA) on r/NintendoSwitch yesterday, that dedication was on full display. Instead of just answering product questions, my teammates gave real insight into how we approach design, what drives our decisions, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Here are some of my favorite moments.

Why SUPCASE and MUMBA?

When someone asked how we came up with our brand names, our Marketing Director, Gary, nailed it with one of the most meaningful replies of the day:

“SUPCASE = Short for Super Case. Built to be tougher, and better than the rest.”
“MUMBA = A tribute to greatness.”

One of our founders was a huge Kobe Bryant fan, and naming MUMBA was our way of channeling that same fearless ambition into every product we make.

That’s not branding fluff, it’s the mindset that drives our teams.

Do You Actually Drop These Things?

Absolutely. When a fan joked about us running egg-drop-style experiments with Switch consoles, our Product Engineer, Jet, replied:

“Yes, all Switch case designs have undergone SGS drop testing to ensure each product delivers outstanding protection.”

We don’t just claim military-grade durability. We prove it.

Innovation with a Purpose for the Nintendo Switch 2

When asked about improvements for the Switch 2, Jet shared one of our proudest design upgrades:

“Our updated dockable design accommodates new cooling airflow. And our quick-detach/load system lets you pop off Joy-Cons without removing the case.”

These aren’t just tweaks, but real solutions for how players use their devices.

Fun and Gaming Questions Asked

Not every question was about case specs and that’s where Alan, our Marketing Specialist, brought his gaming expertise. When the topic turned to games and gadgets, Alan delivered.

Favorite franchise to bring to Switch 2?

“Sly Cooper. My favorite PlayStation series. I’d love to see it come back!”

Favorite Switch 2 accessory?

“The Joy-Con steering wheel. Makes Mario Kart way more fun!”

Nintendo camera vs. Piranha Plant cam?

“Piranha plant cam! Why have a normal camera when you can have a Piranha plant?”

Alan reminded everyone that while we take protection seriously, we never forget why we’re in this space: gaming is supposed to be fun.

And of course, the highlight of the day: A user asked, “If the Nintendo Switch was a worm, would you still design a product to protect it?”

Jet’s response?

“If the Nintendo Switch were a worm, we’d still design the toughest, most precise-fitting cocoon on the market—because even worms deserve elite protection.”

Anticipating What’s Next

We got a lot of questions about what’s coming next, and I was happy to see how transparent our team was. Here are a few exciting nuggets:

  • Larger carrying case for dock and controllers?

“It’s under development :)” – Gary

  • Switch 2’s new features?

“We’re exploring mouse functionality support.” – Jet

  • Cooling concerns with heavier cases?

“We optimized the case around the dock’s airflow to prevent heat buildup.” – Jet

These are the types of conversations that shape our roadmap.

Built Different: Why Our Team and Our Cases Stand Out

That’s the spirit of SUPCASE and Mumba in a nutshell - fun, fearless, and committed to doing things the right way.

Whether you joined us live or are just catching up now, I hope you got a taste of what makes our teams special. We don’t just design for devices. We design for real people, real moments, and real protection.
