FAQ

How is the UB Mag Vault different from the MagFlip Wallet?

The UB Mag Vault and MagFlip Wallet are two separate products with different designs. The key differences are:

  • Card capacity: Mag Vault holds 6 cards. MagFlip holds 5 cards.
  • Stand design: Mag Vault uses a metal cover that folds flat to prop the phone at a fixed angle. MagFlip has a multi-angle tripod flap that adjusts to multiple viewing positions and lifts the phone off the surface.
  • RFID protection: Mag Vault has a built-in RFID chip integrated into the wallet body. MagFlip includes a separate RFID-blocking card that occupies one card slot.
  • Card retention: Mag Vault uses a spring mechanism to prevent cards from slipping out. MagFlip uses a locking mechanism with a push-out notch.

If adjustable multi-angle stand viewing is important to you, choose the MagFlip. If you want more card slots at a lower price, choose the Mag Vault.

How does the stand work on the UB Mag Vault?

The Mag Vault's stand is the metal lock cover on the front of the wallet. When opened, it folds back to create a prop that holds your phone in either portrait or landscape orientation. The stand angle is relatively fixed. It works well for quick video watching or FaceTime calls on a flat surface. It is NOT the same as the MagFlip Wallet's adjustable tripod stand, which lifts the phone off the surface and offers multiple viewing angles. If a versatile, adjustable stand is your priority, the MagFlip is a better fit.

How many cards does the UB Mag Vault hold?

The UB Mag Vault holds 6 cards, one more than the MagFlip Wallet's 5-card capacity. The built-in spring mechanism prevents cards from sliding out during daily use. Unlike the MagFlip, the Mag Vault's RFID protection is built into the wallet body as an integrated chip, so it does not take up a card slot. All 6 slots are available for your credit cards, IDs, and transit passes.

What does "built-in RFID chip" mean?

The UB Mag Vault has an RFID-blocking chip permanently integrated into the wallet's body. It blocks unauthorized wireless scanning of your credit card data at all times without any action on your part. This is different from the MagFlip Wallet, which includes a separate RFID-blocking card that you place in one of the card slots. The Mag Vault's built-in approach means you do not lose a card slot to RFID protection.

Does the UB Mag Vault work with Samsung Galaxy phones?

Not directly. Samsung Galaxy phones do not have built-in MagSafe magnets. However, you can use the included adhesive magnetic ring to add magnetic attachment to your Samsung phone or case. Once the ring is applied, the Mag Vault will snap on magnetically. For best results, pair it with a SUPCASE MagSafe-compatible Samsung case like the UB Grip or UB Mag XT, which already have built-in magnets.

How strong is the magnet?

The UB Mag Vault uses built-in magnets with 3000g of magnetic force, the same strength as the MagFlip Wallet. Once attached to a MagSafe-compatible case, the wallet stays firmly in place during normal daily use. It will not detach from walking, bending, or light movement. Some users with thicker or non-MagSafe cases have reported weaker adhesion. For the strongest hold, use a SUPCASE case with built-in MagSafe magnets.

Can the UB Mag Vault hold cash?

No. The UB Mag Vault is designed for cards only. It does not have a bill compartment or cash strap. This is the same limitation as the MagFlip Wallet. If you carry cash, you will need a separate solution.
